If you’re wondering how to become a CPA in Wyoming, we’ve organized the Wyoming CPA exam requirements below.
1. Meet the Education Requirements to Sit for the CPA Exam
To meet the Wyoming requirements to sit for the CPA exam, the Wyoming CPA education requirements must be attained first. For Wyoming applicants, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree that includes twenty-four (24) semester credit hours covering various accounting subjects and a minimum of twenty-four (24) semester credits of business courses (other than accounting).
In addition to the education requirements, Wyoming exam applicants must also meet a Wyoming connection requirement, such as a Wyoming driver’s license, Wyoming street address, Wyoming employment or job offer, or current attendance at a Wyoming school.
2. Apply for the Uniform CPA Exam
You can take the Uniform CPA examination now that you’ve finished the Wyoming Board of Certified Public Accountants’ educational requirements. The Board will send you an authorization to test notification via your preferred method (email or mail) and a payment coupon from the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).
3. Pay for the Uniform CPA Exam
In Wyoming, the current examination application fee is $110, and the current exam section fee is $262.64 per section. Re-examination applicants pay a $50 re-exam fee in addition to applicable section fees.

4. Notice to Schedule (NTS)
Candidates should apply only for the sections they plan to take in the next six months. You can register for the exam and pay the Prometric costs at the Prometric website. You must arrange the exam as a Wyoming candidate within six months of the NTS date. Prepare for CPA exam section testing and attend the exam center on time.
A passing score is valid for 30 months from the date the candidate sat for that section, and candidates must pass the remaining sections within that 30-month period.
5. Pass the Uniform CPA Exam
The CPA exam consists of the three core sections and candidates would need to select one of the three discipline to demonstrate deeper skills and knowledge, allowing candidates to choose a specialization. There is no set order in which the exam portions must be completed.
You must pass each CPA Exam section with a score of 75 or higher. In Wyoming, a passing section score currently remains valid for 30 months from the date you sat for that section.
6. Gain Necessary Experience
To meet the Wyoming CPA experience requirements, applicants must complete the required experience and verify it either through CPA-supervised experience or, where permitted, equivalent experience documented under Wyoming Board rules.
7. Ethics Requirement
The candidate must also meet the Wyoming CPA ethics exam requirements by passing the Professional Ethics: The AICPA’s Comprehensive Course For Licensure. The required course materials can be ordered from the AICPA website.
8. Apply for a CPA License
After passing the Uniform CPA Exam, applicants must complete the Original Certificate Application for the CPA license.
The Wyoming Board currently lists the Original Certificate application fee as $225, requires the Verification of Lawful Presence form, and the AICPA ethics completion certificate.
9. CPA License Renewal and Continuing Education
Wyoming CPA certificates currently expire each year on December 31. Certificate holders must maintain 120 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) over a rolling three-year period, including four credits of approved ethics with a Wyoming statutes-and-rules component. Current renewal fees are $190 for active status and $80 for inactive status.
